Despite having to deal with injuries, including having to replace its starting goalie, the Hightstown High boys soccer team is 6-2 on the season.
"We're just trying to work through it," Hightstown Coach Tim Kalick said. "The guys are starting to come together."
Jean Miguez started the season as Hightstown's goalie, but an injury put Hendry Zhingari into that role the past two games.

"We fell into a bit of a funk," Kalick said. "We have a few days off now before playing three games next week - against Burlington Township on Monday, West Windsor North on Tuesday and Hopewell Valley on Thursday. We'll respond and get things going on the right track."
Prior to Miguez's injury, Hightstown had won three of four games, all by shutout. Hightstown's lone loss in that stretch was 2-1 in overtime to an undefeated Princeton team on Sept. 20.
Miguez made eight saves in a 2-0 win over Steinert on Sept. 17. Parrish and Perez had goals. Jason Aguillar and Christian Aguirre had assists.
Miguez made six saves in a 1-0 win over Ewing on Sept. 24. Perez scored the lone goal.
Aguillar, Aguirre and Parrish all scored in a 3-0 win over Peddie on Sept. 24.
As well as Hightstown is playing, Kalick knows his team has even more it can do. The team can get healther and continue to sharpen its skills.
"We're still developing," Kalick said. "We're still looking to see which kids will step up and become the team leaders."
While they wait for the leaders to develop and the injuries to heal, 6-2 is a nice place to take a break and regroup.
