By Dave Fried, Robbinsville mayor and Republican candidate for State Assembly in the 14th Legislative District
This Memorial Day, I had the honor of marching in the Hamilton Memorial Day Parade. One discussion I had with a group of veterans reminded me that not long ago, products we purchased were marked with an American Flag and a familiar slogan: “Made in the U.S.A.” Growing up, my father always told me to look for that slogan, because, “When you buy American, you keep your neighbors working.”
Every year, it becomes more difficult to find products made in our country. China’s power grows while our economy weakens, and our politicians offer no solutions.

I was pleased to see that Assemblyman Craig Coughlin (D-Woodbridge) introduced a resolution in the Legislature that would encourage New Jerseyans to buy American in order to stimulate our economy and create jobs.
I hope that before the Legislature goes on vacation, they pass this resolution and send a message that New Jersey stands behind American workers. Regardless of political party or ideology, we must all work together to get our economy moving again.
