'NJ Weedman' Denied Request For New Hearing

Ed Forchion plans to appeal the judge's decision and request a mistrial, according to nj.com.

Ed Forchion’s request for a new detention hearing has been denied, meaning the activist known as “NJ Weedman” will remain in jail until his trial on witness tampering charges begins.

Forchion told nj.com he plans to appeal the decision and request a mistrial after his previous attorney offered to give the prosecution copies of emails between the two during a court appearance on Tuesday, Aug. 1.

Forchion was arrested last year following a raid at the Weedman’s Joint cafe and sanctuary. The tampering charges followed in March after police allege Forchion attempted to make contact with a confidential informant who tipped off authorities prior to the raid. He has been in jail on those charges without bail ever since.
