Police Blotter: Three Charged With DWI in Hightstown

reported three arrests this past week for driving while intoxicated and related charges.

• Sean Hunt, 26, of Dennison Drive, East Windsor, was charged June 12 with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit breath samples, reckless driving, headlamps required and for failure to maintain lamps.

Police said they stopped him at 1:52 a.m. on Franklin Street for driving with no taillights on and driving a vehicle with only the driver’s side brake light functioning. Once stopped, police said they smelled alcohol and administered field sobriety tests, which Hunt failed. In custody, Hunt refused to provide breath samples, according to a police report. He was later released to a friend.

• Michael Rubenstein, 46, of Robbinsville, was charged June 11 with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, reckless driving, careless driving and failure to maintain lane. 

Police said they stopped him at 2:48 a.m. on Mercer Street after seeing him nearly strike a curb while taking a turn. Rubenstein then crossed the double yellow line and traveled in the opposing lane “in a serpentine manner,” according to police.

Once stopped, police said they administered field sobriety tests, which Rubenstein failed, and at headquarters he reportedly registered a blood-alcohol level of 0.11 percent. He was later released to a family member.

• Julianne Ilaria, 22, of Jackson, was charged June 8 with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, reckless driving, expired registration and failure to inspect.

Police said they stopped her at 11:44 p.m. on Franklin Street after a random license plate check showed the vehicle’s registration was expired and they saw the vehicle had an expired inspection sticker. Police said they smelled marijuana and that Ilaria failed field sobriety tests. A drug recognition exam revealed she was under the influence of marijuana, police said. Ilaria was later released to a friend.
