Police Confiscate Gun From Teen In Mercer County

The gun was confiscated Monday morning. Its origin remained unknown late Monday afternoon.

Police confiscated a gun from a 16-year-old in Trenton on Monday, Mercer County Sheriff Jack Kemler announced. It began when Mercer County Sheriff s Office Patrol Officers George Dzurkoc III and John Lyle responded to the 400 block of Union Street in Trenton on a report of a gun possession at 10:03 a.m.

Upon arrival, the officers found the teen, who was not identified by the Sheriff’s Office, matching a description provided by Trenton police. The teen was found to be in possession of Glock 9 mm handgun, in addition to three magazines loaded with additional 9 mm bullets, police said.

One of the magazines contained hollow point bullets. The weapon was also fitted with a tactical red laser-aiming device, according to police.

“The quick work of the Sheriff’s Office patrol units resulted in one more lethal weapon being taken off the streets of Trenton,” Kemler said. “Our patrol units work hand-in-hand with the Trenton Police Department to help take dangerous guns off the streets and out of the hands of juveniles.”

The gun was clear on the National Crime Information Center (NCIC). Its origin was unknown as of late Monday afternoon. The teen, who awaits a hearing, was released into parental custody after being fitted with an ankle-monitoring bracelet.
