Possession Of A Weapon, DUI: East Windsor Police Blotter

A Newark resident was found in possession of an illegal handgun on Rt. 130, police said.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ – The East Windsor police blotter released March 9, contained the following report.

On March 5 at 12:43 a.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop after observing the vehicle driving over the speed limit and failing to maintain its travel lane. The driver exhibited signs of impairment and was placed under arrest after failing field sobriety tests. The 49-year-old PA resident was later released pending court action. Weapons Offense

On Feb.6 at 9:01 p.m., an officer conducted a motor vehicle stop on Route 130 after observing the vehicle improperly using its high beam headlamps and failing to maintain its travel lane. Investigation revealed that the driver, a 23-year-old Newark resident, was in possession of an illegal handgun. The driver was arrested and transported to the Mercer County Corrections Center pending court action.

On Feb. 7 at 4 p.m., an officer responded to Walmart for a report of shoplifting. Investigation revealed that two people left the store without paying for $625.89 worth of merchandise. Both people, one a PA resident and the other from Hamilton, were placed under arrest and later released pending court action, police said.
