Game one of the fall season had a renewed Storm team took on Staten Island’s Thunder in Old Bridge. From the start Storm dominated possession and took an early lead when Laila Aly laid a corner kick out to the center of the goal box where Grace O’Leary used her body to direct it towards the goal to go up 1-0. Towards the end of the half Thunder finally found time on the offensive side as an errant clearing pass found it’s way past Keeper Mary Kate Hartnett. Storm continued possession dominance to start the second half. O’Leary took the ball up the right wing and placed a perfect cross to the left post and a waiting Danielle Faup who struck the upper right corner of the net for the 2-1 lead. With seconds remaining in the game Thunder again found some offensive presence and from a mad scramble popped the ball over Keeper Nicole Masone to seal the draw.
