It appeared to be more of the same as Storm faced Marlboro’s Comets early Sunday afternoon. Possession and chances were all on Storm’s side for the 1st half but a misplayed long ball lead to an unstoppable Marlboro shot and Storm found themselves down 1-0 early. Not again, Storm’s offense seemed to say collectively, as they snapped into gear. Moved from fullback to left wing, Laila Aly tied the game as a misplayed clear found her at the left post. From that point it was all Storm. Grace O’Leary gave them the lead, firing a pass from Mikayla Capasso above the keeper. Backs Lili Iavarone and Katie Bertrand refused to let the Comet’s into their own half for most of the game. As their defense started to wear O’Leary crossed the ball out near the 18 finding Stopper Erin DiPiano on the run. DePiano made no mistake with her shot and Storm was up 3-1. O’Leary finished the scoring for Storm navigating through two defenders and the keeper to toe it inside the far right post. Comet stayed in the game attacking another misplayed ball and the mad scramble that ensued finished the scoring 4-2.
