Tell Patch: What Should Happen to Borough Hall and the Police Department?

The Hightstown Police Department is temporarily housed in the Lucas Electric building and Borough Hall is set up in the Public Works building.

Since the hurricane Borough Hall has been operating out of the and the police station was temporarily moved to the building on Mercer Street.

This week 9-1-1 lines were installed in the temporary police station so emergency calls can be redirected back to Hightstown, said Hightstown Mayor Steven Kirson. Since the hurricane, East Windsor has been taking 9-1-1 calls and forwarding them to Hightstown dispatch, which is set up in the Cranbury Police Station.

The Borough Council authorized Sockler Realty Services Group, Inc. to appraise the Lucas Electric property at Monday’s council meeting. This will provide the Borough with the purchase and lease value of the property, according to Borough Administrator Michael Theokas.

Air quality tests conducted at Borough Hall after the hurricane have revealed significant environmental concerns, according to Borough officials.
