Woman Critically Injured In Weekend Home Fire In East Windsor

The woman was taken to Cooperman Barnabus Medical Center and her condition remains critical, police said. Three homes were damaged.

EAST WINDSOR, NJ — One woman was critically injured and three homes were damaged in a fire on Saturday afternoon, East Windsor police said.

The fire broke out around 2:25 p.m. on Saturday at 140 Bennington Drive. On arrival, officers found that the fire had engulfed all levels of the structure. The woman, who was the sole occupant of the house had already been evacuated from the home by a nearby resident, police said.

The woman sustained cuts, scrapes, and burns to her arms, legs, and head. She was taken to Cooperman Barnabus Medical Center and her condition remains critical, police said.

No other person was injured. The home on 138 and 142 Bennington Drive also sustained moderate damage from the fire.

The properties were inspected by township officials and determined to be uninhabitable, police said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the East Windsor Police Department and the Mercer County Prosecutor's Office.
