5 Edison Firefighters Return After Hurricane Laura Deployment

The firefighters were part of New Jersey Task Force 1 deployed to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to aid in rescue and recovery efforts.

EDISON, NJ — Five Edison township firefighters who were part of a New Jersey Task Force 1 (NJ-TF1) deployed to assist in Hurricane Laura efforts, have returned home.

The New Jersey Office of Emergency Management made the announcement in their Facebook page, earlier this week.

Battalion Chief Kevin O'Grady and firefighters Wayne Enoch, Michael Sacchi, William Pellegrino and Robert J Sawicki were part of the task force deployed to Baton Rouge, Louisiana to aid in rescue and recovery efforts.

“Thank you to all the participating agencies that have members on the team and all of the volunteers who assisted the team during the deployment. It takes a village and we are very grateful,” said the office of emergency management.

The NJ-TF1 was activated by FEMA Urban Search & Rescue, in response to Hurricane Laura.

The NJ-TF1 has 80 members from different parts of the state.
