After 26 Days At JFK, COVID Patient Goes Home

On Tuesday, the 5,000th COVID-19 patient was discharged from Hackensack Meridian Health system, which has hospitals across the state.

The patient, whose name was not given, spent the past 26 days at JFK Medical Center in Edison, part of that time on a ventilator.

EDISON, NJ — On Tuesday of this week, the 5,000 COVID-19 patient was discharged from Hackensack Meridian Health system, which has hospitals all across New Jersey.

The patient, whose name was not given, spent the past 26 days at JFK Medical Center in Edison.

He was on a ventilator for part of that time, but has been extubated (had the breathing tube taken out), and now made a full recovery. The patient is holding a sign that reads "I survived COVID-19."
