EDISON, NJ - A dining initiative Mayor Sam Joshi first spoke about in February is now officially underway. Edison Township has launched its Restaurant Passport Program, inviting residents and visitors to explore the municipality's diverse culinary scene during the FIFA World Cup.
Joshi previewed the program during his State of the Township address earlier this year, positioning Edison as what he called "the restaurant capital of New Jersey" and promising a passport guide to help World Cup visitors navigate the township's hundreds of locally owned ethnic restaurants. The township expects to welcome more than 100,000 tourists during the tournament.
The new program invites participants to visit authentic ethnic restaurants across Edison, collecting stamps as they dine. Passports are available at participating restaurants as well as several municipal locations:
"We are thrilled to launch the Restaurant Passport Program," Joshi said. "As we gear up for the World Cup, this program not only showcases our vibrant dining scene but also encourages visitors to explore our community and support local businesses."
The program runs through the World Cup and beyond, according to the township.
