📰 News we're reading

• Newsweek names New Jersey's best nursing homes for 2027 (njbiz.com) — Two Edison facilities, JFK Hartwyck at Oak Tree and Roosevelt Care Center at Edison, have been named among New Jersey's best nursing homes in Newsweek's 2027 rankings. The list evaluates quality of care, services, and satisfaction across 65 top-rated state facilities. For Edison families weighing long-term care, these recognitions spotlight strong local options close to home.

• Senior QB leads South Hunterdon to road win over J.P. Stevens (nj.com subscription) — A J.P. Stevens home football game in Edison ended in a 30-14 loss to visiting South Hunterdon, despite a late push from the home team. South Hunterdon's balanced passing and rushing attack, plus multiple defensive takeaways, built an 18-0 halftime lead that Stevens couldn't overcome. Local fans still saw strong second-half scoring from the Edison-based squad.

• New Jersey aging crisis — Medicaid and AI Scams Threaten Seniors (koreadaily.com) — Edison seniors are at the center of growing concern after an AARP fraud summit in town highlighted how a local couple lost over $1 million to sophisticated AI-generated scams. Advocates also warn that new Medicaid work requirements could push many New Jersey residents off coverage and are pushing a 10-year, statewide aging plan to improve healthcare, housing, and protections for older adults.
