Edison Cop Stalked Ex-Girlfriend: Prosecutor

Paul Pappas is accused of stalking an ex. These charges come weeks after he was charged with slashing her car tires.

EDISON, NJ — An Edison police officer has been charged with stalking an ex-girlfriend, weeks after he slashed her car tires, Middlesex County Prosecutor Andrew C. Carey said.

Paul Pappas, 43, an Edison Police Officer from Edison, was charged with computer theft / criminal activity and stalking. Between August 2017 through March 2018, Pappas allegedly used the the New Jersey Criminal Justice Information System to find information about his ex-girlfriend and stalk her.

The alleged stalking was discovered during an investigation into Pappas after he allegedly slashed his ex-girlfriend's car tires while on-duty, Carey said. Pappas was arrested and charged with criminal mischief at the end of March for those allegations.

Pappas is currently suspended from the Edison Police Department without pay. He was released on a summonses on Tuesday pending a May court date.

The investigation is being conducted by the Edison Police Department’s Internal Affairs Unit and the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.
