Edison Gets $635K In Federal Funds For Affordable Housing Program
The funding from the HUD will address community development, affordable housing and homeless assistance.

EDISON, NJ – The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has allocated $635,250 to Edison under the Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG).
The funds will go towards the development of affordable housing to expand economic opportunities for people with low and moderate incomes.
In total, the Garden State got $177 million in grants for New Jersey for Community Planning and Development activities.

“HUD's CPD programs support local governments who depend on this federal funding to address economic development needs, lack of affordable housing, and homelessness,” Alicka Ampry-Samuel, HUD Regional Administrator for New York and New Jersey, said in a statement.
“These programs also enhance communities, aid local businesses, and provide funding for infrastructure maintenance like water and sewer systems. Most importantly, it is a vital resource for low and moderate-income residents who just need a hand up to support their families and improve their quality of life.”

The Community Development Block Grant Program (CDBG) provides annual grants on a formula basis to states, cities, and counties to develop viable urban communities by providing decent housing and a suitable living environment, and by expanding economic opportunities, principally for low- and moderate-income persons.
