Edison To Host First Official Diwali Celebration This Year
The celebration will be held on Oct. 22 at Lake Papaianni.
EDISON, NJ — Reflecting the diverse community in the Township, Edison will be hosting its first official Diwali celebration this year.
The celebration will be held on Oct. 22 at Lake Papaianni. A significant celebration in India, Diwali s the Festival of Lights. People celebrate by lighting earthen oil lamps to mark the victory of light over darkness.
In a Facebook post, Edison Mayor Sam Joshi said the event will be “the largest Diwali celebration in New Jersey.”

The event will be held from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a diya (lamp) lighting ceremony scheduled at 6 p.m. The evening will also include lots of music and food.
