Edison Man Charged With Burglary For Breaking Into 19 Businesses

Since early 2019, the man broke into over 19 businesses throughout Edison, South Plainfield, and Metuchen, police said.

EDISON, NJ – An Edison resident was charged with burglary and other offenses after he broke into over 19 businesses in Edison, South Plainfield and Metuchen, Edison police said.

The 49-year-old unnamed Edison man was arrested on March 14, and charged with burglary, theft, criminal mischief, possession of burglary tools, and conspiracy to commit burglary, Edison police said.

Since early 2019, the man broke into over 19 businesses throughout Edison, South Plainfield, and Metuchen, police said.

According to the police, the man was known to remove the windows and doors of the businesses to gain entry. Once inside, he would take the money or business checks, and then flee the area, usually into the woods or nearby train tracks, police said.

The arrest was a result of a joint effort between the Edison and South Plainfield Police Departments.

The Edison Police Department reminded community members that it offers free security surveys of businesses and residences in the Township.
