Edison Man Charged In Hit-And-Run Of Woman In Secaucus

The hit-and-run that happened last Thursday near Laurel Hill Park, Secaucus.

EDISON, NJ — A 59-year-old Edison man has been charged with the non-fatal hit and run of a woman near Laurel Hill Park in Secaucus, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said Sunday.

Som Abrol, 59, was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a car accident resulting in serious injury, a third-degree crime, and endangering an injured victim, also in the third degree.

He was arrested Saturday at the Hudson County Prosecutor’s office in Secaucus, Suarez said.

Abrol was released pending his first court appearance, which is tentatively scheduled for February 13.

According to police, Abrol struck a 49-year-old Jersey City woman at 6:40 a.m. last Thursday in the area of Paul Amico Way and New County Road. He then fled the scene, but his truck was later recovered.

The unnamed woman survived but was seriously injured. As of Sunday afternoon, she remains in the Jersey City Medical Center, where she has been upgraded to stable condition and continues to recuperate.
