Edison, Metuchen Mayors Meet With President Joe Biden

METUCHEN, NJ — Last week, the Mayors of Edison and Metuchen met President Joe Biden at the United States Conference of Mayors, held Jan. 19 in Washington, D.C.

Also present were the Mayors of Piscataway and Trenton

“The USCM’s Annual Winter Meeting gave me the unique opportunity to learn from and connect with other mayors from throughout the United States and share some of Metuchen’s accomplishments and challenges with some of our most influential federal leaders,” Metuchen Mayor Jonathan M Busch said.

Busch, a Democrat, also met and spoke with U.S. Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland and Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen at the conference.

The Mayors also met with Sen. Cory Booker "to discuss the importance of keeping the federal government open, modernizing our infrastructure and special grant projects,” Busch said.

Piscataway Mayor Brian Wahler said he was thrilled to meet with President Biden.

“The Biden administration understands governing, prioritizes solutions and most importantly, values the rule of law and democracy," Wahler said.

"What a relief after the disastrous circus of the Trump presidency to have true leaders back in the executive branch under the extraordinary leadership of President Biden.”

At the conference, Biden spoke about making infrastructure improvements, prescription drug cost reductions and the importance of local government in the functioning of American life.
