Edison Police, Grinch Collect 1,000 Toys For Charity

"The Grinch finished his community service and has been released on his own recognizance," Chief Bryan said.

EDISON, NJ — The Edison Township Police department and the Grinch collected over 1,000 toys for the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys For Tots Program during their efforts to rehabilitate the Grinch.

Officers traveled around town with the Grinch locked in a "jail cell," letting local children teach him the meaning of Christmas. Families were asked to bring an unwrapped toy as a donation when meeting the Grinch.

“Thanks to many generous Edison families and our dedicated police officers, our toy drive was a terrific success,” Police Chief Thomas Bryan said. “It was also great fun for so many children who had a chance to meet The Grinch.”

“Our police officers created an imaginative and engaging Toys For Tots campaign to bring toys and joy to many needy, disabled and hospitalized children this holiday season,” said Mayor Thomas Lankey. “I am very proud of this community effort.”

With Christmas right around the corner, it looks like the Grinch's time with the Edison Police Department has come to an end.
