Edison Resident Sentenced In Crash That Killed Mercer Co. Man
Arsalan Gul was sentenced to seven years in state prison for causing a crash that killed a Robbinsville man.
EDISON, NJ — A Township man has been sentenced for causing the death of another person in a crash that occurred on Route 1, New Brunswick the night of Oct. 1, 2020, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Director Anthony A. Caputo said.
Arsalan Gul, 22, of Edison, was sentenced to seven years in state prison on one count of second-degree vehicular homicide. He must serve 85 percent of his sentence, around six years, before he is eligible for parole and upon his release, will be subject to a twelve-year loss of license, Ciccone said.
On Oct. 1, 2020, at approximately 11:30 p.m., New Brunswick Police officers responded to a motor vehicle crash involving three vehicles. An investigation determined that Gul, who was driving an Infiniti sedan, crashed into a Honda Civic, disabling it in the roadway where it was struck by another vehicle, Ciccone said. The driver of the Civic, Brian O’Donnell, 32, of Robbinsville, was pronounced dead at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital. Gul was charged with and pleaded guilty to second-degree vehicular homicide and driving while intoxicated.
