Edison Woman Fatally Struck By Train Near Metuchen Station

EDISON, NJ — A woman from Edison was fatally struck by a train on Tuesday evening, NJ Transit officials said.

Around 6:50 p.m., Jessica Chaikin, 32, was struck by train 3959 which departed Penn Station New York at 6:12 p.m.

Chaikin was struck west of Metuchen station. Northeast Corridor rail service was temporarily suspended in both directions between Metuchen and Trenton.

There are no reported injuries to the approximately 100 customers and crew onboard the train.

The incident is being investigated by the New Jersey Transit Police department.
