Excessive Heat Warning Issued In Edison
19 New Jersey counties are currently under a heat advisory through 8 p.m.
EDISON, NJ — Officials on Tuesday issued a heat advisory across town as the brutal heat wave continues in New Jersey. The temperature in Edison is expected to hit 97 on Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
Nineteen New Jersey counties are currently under a heat advisory through 8 p.m. as temperatures up to 96 degrees and heat indices ("feels-like" temperatures) can soar up to 104 degrees, the National Weather Service said.
"Hot temperatures and high humidity levels will increase the threat of heat related health issues," the National Weather Service said. "A cold front is expected to arrive tonight, bringing an end to the long stretch of excessively hot humid weather."

A chance of showers and thunderstorms is expected mainly after 3 p.m.
Edison officials have asked residents to drink plenty of fluids, stay in an air-conditioned room, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors.

Young children and pets should never be left unattended in vehicles under any circumstances. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned environments. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location.
