
From Edison PD: “The Grinch” is back in town, helping the Edison Police Department spread holiday cheer and collect presents for the annual Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” drive.
“The Grinch’s small heart grew three sizes, as they say. He’s really quite merry now about the holidays,” said police Officer Keith Jackson, who is organizing Edison’s “Whobilation of Heroes” events.Children of all ages can greet “The Grinch,” and his police entourage, at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 29 for the Edison Memorial Tower Tree Lighting, 37 Christie St., in Menlo Park. Joining them for holiday games and hot chocolate are “McGruff the Crime Dog” and, straight from the Santa’s castle in the North Pole, Mrs. Claus.
This will kick off a series of appearance “The Grinch” and his friends make throughout Edison from 5-9 pm on Friday, Nov 30; 10-4 pm on Saturday, Dec. 1; and Noon-4 pm, Sunday, Dec. 2. “Everyone in Edison can be holiday hero,” says Jackson, who asks parents and children to bring new, unwrapped toys for needy and hospitalized children. Edison annually donates hundreds of toys to the Marine Corps “Toys for Tots” drive. Edison police are also accepting store-bought or homemade, unsealed holiday cards that will be mailed to United States military personnel serving abroad and far from their families during the holiday season.
