Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration In Metuchen On Saturday

The event will celebrate and honor the contributions of Hispanic residents.

METUCHEN, NJ — Downtown Metuchen will be bustling with activity this Saturday. The Metuchen Downtown Alliance and the Metuchen Human Relations Commission are hosting an event to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month.

The theme of the event is Esperanza (esperança) - meaning to celebrate a bright future and reinforce the resilience of the local community. The event organizers invite community members to come out and honor the contributions Hispanic individuals have made and will continue to make.

“The Metuchen Human Relations Commission is extremely excited to discover and celebrate the diversity and achievements of the Hispanic community within Metuchen, which comprises roughly 7.4 percent of its population,” Asela Laguna Mourao from the Human Relations Commission said in a statement. “We are looking forward to highlighting the culture of our businesses and residents in unison with the vast Hispanic population of NJ during the month of September.”
