Low Water Pressure In Edison Due To Water Main Break
Utility officials have been working since Friday to identify and patch the leak.
EDISON, NJ — Residents in various parts of the township are experiencing low water pressure, according to Edison Water utility officials.
Officials said the water is still safe to drink, but residents might notice a decrease in pressure due to a water main break in the area. Utility officials have been working since Friday to identify and patch the leak and they brought in contractors from FSC Leak Detection for further assistance.
Residents living off of New Durham road between I-287 and Rieder Road are likely experiencing a drop in pressure.

“We are working as fast as we can to fix this break,” Sewer and Water Director Robert Smith said. “We’ve narrowed it down to this area, but now we have to pinpoint it. The break could be under I-287, it could be in someone’s backyard. We have crews out there, using the best technology available to find it.”
Crews have been working from 3 a.m. to 5 a.m. when there is less traffic to detect and fix leaks, Smith explained.

“Occasional breaks are unfortunately an inevitable part of water utility systems,” Smith said. “We are grateful for residents’ patience.”
