Man Killed In Edison Home Fire On Thursday Morning: Prosecutor

The man was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said. No firefighters or police officers were injured.

EDISON, NJ — One person died following a fire at a residence in Edison on Thursday morning, Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone and Chief Thomas Bryan of the Edison Police Department said. Authorities are currently investigating the fire.

Around 10:30 a.m., authorities responded to a residence on Plainfield Avenue in Edison following a report of a structure fire, Ciccone said. Upon arrival, first responders found an unresponsive man inside the residence. The man was pronounced dead at the scene, Ciccone said. The man's identity is being withheld pending notification to the next of kin.

"The cause of death remains undetermined pending the completion of an autopsy by the Middlesex County Regional Medical Examiner’s Office," said the media release from Ciccone's office. No firefighters or police officers were injured.

According to preliminary investigation, the fire is not suspicious in nature, authorities said.
