Metuchen Mayor, Councilman Announce 2023 Reelection Bid

Newcomer Vinita Jethwani will be joining Jonathan M Busch and Councilman Tyler Kandel as running mate.

METUCHEN, NJ — Metuchen Mayor Jonathan Busch announced he will be running for reelection in 2023.

Busch’s running mates will be Councilman Tyler Kandel and newcomer Vinita Jethwani.

At the annual candidate selection meeting held Monday night, Metuchen Democrats voted unanimously to support Busch’s reelection campaign.

"Serving as your Mayor for the last five plus years has been one of the honors of my life and I hope to have the opportunity to continue working to move our community forward,” Busch said on Facebook.

Praising his running mate Tyler, Busch said the councilman worked hard to boost infrastructure, and improve parks and recreation space during his first term.

“During his first term on the Council, Tyler has been extraordinarily effective. Never afraid to make his voice heard, Tyler has worked to boost Borough infrastructure, improve parks and recreation spaces, and upgrade public safety,” Busch said.

Newcomer Jethwani currently serves as a member of the Board of Trustees for Middlesex College and as a member of the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood of Northern, Central and Southern New Jersey.

The team will be hosting a campaign petition drive on March 5, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.
