Metuchen Schools Work With Local Hospital To Get Staff Vaccinated

Metuchen Mayor said the collaboration between the school district and local hospital will go a long way toward protecting the community.

EDISON-METUCHEN, NJ —The Metuchen School District is working with Hackensack Meridian Health JFK Medical Center to administer the COVID-19 vaccine to school staff. And it could happen “within the week,” according to Mayor Jonathan M Busch

In a message to the community, Busch thanked school superintendent Vincent Caputo for his work in ensuring all staff members have the opportunity to get inoculated.

“I am proud to say that, as a direct result of Dr. Caputo's work and in consultation with the hard working staff at Hackensack Meridian Health and JFK Medical Center every Metuchen Public School District staff member has been given the opportunity to receive or will be scheduled to receive a first dose of the vaccine within the week,” Busch said in a Facebook post

There are few people who have worked as hard during this pandemic as our Superintendent of Schools Dr. Vincent Caputo....

Gov. Phil Murphy recently expanded the COVID-19 vaccine eligibility to now include educators and day care staff.

For the past couple of months, Caputo has been working towards getting vaccine access for school staff, said Busch.

“I have personally witnessed his tireless efforts to put our staff first and give them much needed access,” said Busch.

The mayor thanked Caputo for his hard work in making the inoculations possible.

“Dr. Caputo doesn't brag much, it's not his style, but I celebrate his quiet efforts over these difficult months to do the right thing on behalf of the people with whom we entrust our children,” said Busch.
