Middlesex Coalition To Host Talk On Black, Jewish Experience
The Middlesex Black-Jewish Coalition hopes to foster understanding and awareness in the community through interviews and talks.
EDISON, NJ — The Middlesex Black-Jewish Coalition (MBJC) will present their inaugural event, “Hear Thy Neighbor: Stories from Middlesex County’s Black & Jewish Residents” on Sunday, Dec. 6, at 4 p.m.
The MBJC advocates for definite action on issues faced by the Black and Jewish community in the county.
The event hopes to further the organization’s mission of fostering understanding and awareness, by featuring interviews with members of the local Black and Jewish communities.

Each interview is focused on getting to know and appreciate individual experiences in both communities.
Here are the participants who will be sharing their stories:

- Rabbi Daniel Loew, Head of School of Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva. He will be interviewed by MBJC member Sonya Headlam.
- Elsie Foster, Councilperson in Highland Park, who will be interviewed by MBJC member Rebecca Cypess.
- Edina Brown, Councilperson in Old Bridge, interviewed by MBJC member Gary Leslie.
- Rabbi Jonathan Bickhardt, son of a survivor of the infamous voyage of the St. Louis from Nazi Germany, and former New Brunswick resident. He will be interviewed by MBJC member Nicholas De Freitas
The event will be broadcast on the organization’s YouTube page. The program will also be available for viewing on the coalition’s Facebook page after the initial broadcast.
