Middlesex Young Democrats To Host Virtual Voting Awareness Rally

The bus tour which is usually held the Sunday before Election Day has now moved virtual due to COVID-19.

EDISON, NJ – The Middlesex County Young Democrats (MCYD), based in Edison, will be hosting this election season’s ‘Get Out the Vote’ rally on Sunday, to increase voter awareness.

Usually, the organization hosts a bus tour the Sunday before Election Day. But this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the rally has gone virtual.

Guests who will make an appearance at the virtual rally are Gov. Phil Murphy, Sen. Bob Menendez, Sen. Cory Booker, Congressman Frank Pallone Jr., Congresswoman Bonnie Watson Coleman, Speaker Craig Coughlin among others.

“This is the most important election that we have ever had - when we cast our ballots this year we are not just voting for our next president but for the soul of our nation,” Lalla said in a statement.

“We cannot let COVID stop us from getting voters activated at every level of the political process. I am incredibly proud of the work the Young Dems have done this election cycle and the work we did to make the GOTV Bus Tour and Rally going while keeping everyone safe,” she said.

Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin P. McCabe said the rally is an important part of the campaign cycle as it acts like a final push to get voters to the polls before election day.

“This year is no exception, and I am excited to see the enthusiasm from our Young Dems to keep our tradition alive in the midst of a pandemic,” said McCabe.

The event will he held on Sunday, Nov. 1, beginning 3 p.m.
