Troop 53, BSA of Fords to celebrate 75th Anniversary

Troop 53 of Fords will celebrate 75th Anniversary, all alumni welcome

Troop 53, Boy Scouts of America, of Fords, NJ will be celebrating its 75th Anniversary on April 14, 2018. The Troop was chartered to Our Lady of Peace Parish in Fords on April 14, 1943 and has been part of the Parish and community since. Hundreds of young men from Fords and the Clara Barton neighborhoods have passed through the Troop over that time. 101 of these Scouts achieved the rank of Eagle Scout, only six percent of all youth who enter Boy Scouts nationally attain Eagle. Many of these Scouts have gone on to be outstanding members of their communities as doctors, lawyers, educators, engineers, scientists, and many other careers.

The Scouting program has evolved over the years to reflect the changes that have taken place in society and nation. It has always used outdoor skills to develop, leadership, teamwork and citizenship. Merit Badges related to woods craft have grown to include modern technologies including computers and STEM. Through its many changes the core has always been duty to God, country and service to others.

Any and all alumni are invited to attend the celebration April 14, 2018 at Our Lady of Peace Church. More information can be found through troop53fordsnj@gmail.com
