Zoning Board To Hear Plan For Large Billboard Along Turnpike In Edison

American Outdoor Advertising has proposed a 100-foot digital billboard on Old Post Road.

EDISON, NJ — The township’s Zoning Board will hear a proposal for a large double-sided digital billboard on Old Post Road. This billboard will be facing drivers along the NJ turnpike.

American Outdoor Advertising has proposed a 100-foot digital billboard, with two sides on 740 Old Post Road. This location is in the industrial zone. The back of the billboard will be facing local homes.

During the Nov. 22 meeting, the Zoning Board asked American Outdoor Advertising to come back with plans showing that the billboard will be placed on the 6.5-acre land from the nearest property of the nearest residences.

The applicant’s attorney, Jeffrey Lehrer, told the board that the billboard will be buffered from the resident’s views and the impact won’t be “substantial.”

A height variance of 15 feet is permitted, but 100 feet is proposed.

The board will hear the application on Jan. 17.
