• N.J. softball pitcher turns in a stunning performance during a career day (nj.com subscription) — Elmwood Park’s softball team dropped a tight 1-0 home game to Saddle Brook, despite a strong complete-game effort from pitcher Christina Scarpulla. Junior ace Grace Wien struck out 20 for Saddle Brook, while Elmwood Park’s lineup managed just two hits in the defensive duel. The loss leaves Elmwood Park at 7-10 on the season. 
• Postal carrier delivered more than mail (essexnewsdaily.com) — A longtime postal carrier who graduated from Elmwood Park High School is being honored by Bloomfield officials and Halcyon Park neighbors after 27 years of service. Don Densel built close relationships on his route, often going the extra mile to solve mail problems and support residents. Neighbors will celebrate his retirement with a community picnic on May 30.
