Love Me Tonight will kick-off the “Glitter & Song: 1930’s Musicals” Film Series at the Englewood Library on Thursday, August 6, at 2 p.m. in the library’s Room 2. The program is free and open to the public. Registration can be found at bccls.libcal.com/event/17111623. The film series will continue each Thursday through August 27 at 2 p.m.Sponsored by The Friends of the Englewood Library.
In this 1932 pre-Code musical comedy, a Parisian tailor (Maurice Chevalier) poses as a nobleman to collect a massive debt from an aristocratic family. While staying at their grand chateau, he falls for a haughty princess (Jeanette MacDonald) who eventually discovers his true identity but must surrender to love.
The film also stars Charles Ruggles, Charles Butterworth, Myrna Loy and C. Aubrey Smith.
