A Celebration of Women's Equality Day: From Girl to Leader

Aug. 26, Tuesday, starting at 5:30, Women's Equality Day will be celebrated at Bergen Community College-Paramus's Technology Building.

Four Girl Scout Troops will perform. A representative of Paulsdale, suffragette Alice Paul’s national landmark homestead, will speak. Liz Abzug, daughter of famed New York Congresswoman Bella Abzug, will speak about her girls’ leadership program. Many women politicians will appear to interact with young women in attendance. League of Women Voters-Northern Valley Chapter is presenting this event with cosponsors Bergen Community College Women’s Institute, Bergen County Commission on the Status of Women, Women’s Rights Information Center, YWCA Bergen County, Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey and UniteWomen.Org. Women’s Equality Day is a national celebration initiated at the urging of Congresswoman Bella Abzug to honor women’s getting the vote in 1920 and to promote progress in American society by women.
