Educating the community about important health and human services is a primary goal of The Community Chest. The Chest's 85th anniversary celebration features a special presentation, The Complex Business of Health Care: Issues and Areas of Agreement and Disagreement.

In recognition of Mental Health Month, The Chest, in partnership with Vantage Health System and Englewood Hospital and Medical Center, presents a lecture on the health care law and the complex system that currently exists. Members of the health and mental health communities and the general public are welcome to attend the program on Monday, May 14 at 7:00 p.m. at the Englewood Hospital Auditorium, located at 350 Engle Street in Englewood, New Jersey. The event is free-of-charge.

Linda Rosenberg, CEO of the National Council on Behavioral Health, will provide and discuss the current landscape in the mental health field. Ms. Rosenberg is a national expert in the financing and delivery of mental health and substance services. Under her leadership, the National Council for Behavioral Health has become the most effective advocate for behavioral health prevention, early intervention, science-based treatment, and recovery in the United States.

Harnessing the voices of the 10 million adults, children, and families served by the National Council’s 2,900 member organizations, Rosenberg helped secure passage of the federal parity law and expanded funding for integrated behavioral and primary care and for addictions treatment. She also introduced Mental Health First Aid in the United States and built an array of organizational, clinical and workforce improvement initiatives.

Prior to joining the National Council on Behavioral Health, Rosenberg was Senior Deputy Commissioner of the New York State Office of Mental Health. She has experience in designing and operating hospitals, community and housing programs and implemented New York’s first Mental Health Court.
