Dwight Morrow Model UN Reps Receive Commendations

Eight students receive honors.

The Model United Nations Team from Dwight Morrow High School received nine commendations at the University of Connecticut Model United Nations Conference.

Twenty delegates participated in debates and wrote position papers on issues, including: Human trafficking, the status of women, counter terrorism, international aid, and cross-border justice. Each represented a country within their committee.

  • Joshua Castillo, International Law Commission, honorable mention
  • Ankit Shingala, United Nations Development Programme, honorable mention
  • Anna Puchalski, Special Political and Decolonization, most improved
  • Victor Morell, Special Political and Decolonization, honorable mention
  • Kyle Castillo and Omar Salem, U.N. Environmental Programme, honorable mention
  • Tiffany Wong, United Nations High Commissioner on Refugees

The competition was the first of the season for the team. In March, the team plans to attend the Model UN conference at the University of Delaware.
