The Englewood Cliffs Police Department will receive $3,500 to purchase seven body cameras for police officers.

The money is part of $2.5 million the state Attorney General’s Office allocated for law enforcement agencies throughout the state to purchase body cameras. The allocations were announced Monday.

“The awards — made with criminal forfeiture funds — will put New Jersey in the forefront in the U.S. in embracing this technology to promote transparency, mutual accountability, and trust between police and the community,” said Acting Attorney General John J. Hoffman.
