Englewood Hospital’s Dr. Steve Elias Teaches Doctors from Latin America How to Use the ClariVein Device

Dr. Steve Elias recently was in Ft. Lauderdale Florida to teach 15 physicians from Latin America about the ClariVein device. This device had was first used in humans by Dr. Elias in 2009 at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center. Over the years many vein experts have visited Dr. Elias and he has traveled around the country and the world teaching. The physicians at the Florida meeting came from: Mexico, Brazil, Columbia, Chile and other countries. ClariVein is a device that treats varicose veins, a same day procedure, no incisions, using local anesthesia. It takes about 30 minutes to perform.

Steve Elias MD, FACS is the Director of Center for Vein Disease and The Wound Healing Center at Englewood Hospital and Medical Center in Englewood, New Jersey. Dr. Elias is also the Director at Sovereign Medical Group Vein and Vascular Institute.

Dr. Elias is board certified and is a leading name in vascular surgery, minimally invasive endovascular therapy and research. As founder of the American Venous Forum Fellows Course in Vein Disease, Dr. Elias educates graduating physicians from leading institutions (Columbia, Yale, Tufts) about the management of vein disease. His clinical interests include all aspects of minimally invasive vein care, both procedure development and teaching. Venous education of new and current practitioners has been the cornerstone of his commitment to modern vein care and its impact on patient outcomes.

Dr. Elias is the founder and course director of the Expert Venous Management course teaching advanced management of venous disease. Dr. Elias has lectured and published all aspects of venous disease nationally and internationally. He is the Medical Director of VEIN Magazine and the Medical Editor of the American Venous Forum’s Newsletter, Vein Specialist. Other societal memberships include: American Venous Forum, Society for Vascular Surgery, International Society of Vascular Surgery, American College of Phlebology, and the American College of Surgery. He has been the Director of Mount Sinai Vein Center and the Columbia University Vascular Vein Program.
