Child Porn Charges For Englewood Man Returning From Thailand
BREAKING: Avi Kartin, 37, was arrested at Newark Liberty International Airport Wednesday. A bench warrant was issued for his arrest in 2015.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — A city man was arrested Wednesday after he flew back to North Jersey from Thailand, 18 months after he was charged with child porn possession and a warrant was issued for his arrest.
Authorities determined in 2013 that Avi Kartin, 37, of Englewood, was in possession of child pornography images, but authorities discovered he was residing in Thailand at the time, said Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal.
A grand jury indicted Kartin for possession of child pornography in 2015; Superior Court Judge Susan J. Steele issued a bench warrant for his arrest Oct. 29, 2015 after he failed to appear for arraignment, Grewal said in a news release.

On Wednesday, Kartin flew from Bangkok International Airport in Thailand to Newark Liberty International Airport and was arrested on the bench warrant when he arrived, the prosecutor said.
Kartin was remanded to the Bergen County Jail pending a court appearance Wednesday. Superior Court Judge Margaret M. Foti released Kartin pending an appearance before Judge Francis A. McGrogan June 26, Grewal said.
