ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — A city man was charged with three counts of attempted murder following a home invasion where authorities said he fired three rounds from a shotgun into a Lafayette Place apartment complex.
Tyrone "Tizzy" Stephens, 21, along with four other men armed with handguns, allegedly walked into the apartment building and to a specific apartment they targeted on the second floor, Gurbir S. Grewal, Bergen County's acting prosecutor said in a news release.
One of the men knocked on the door, which a victim opened, Grewal said, and the men tried to force their way into the apartment, but the victims stopped them, the prosecutor stated.

An investigation determined that Stephens fired the shotgun three times into the apartment, the prosecutor said. The men fled the scene and left the shotgun behind, Grewal said.
An arrest warrant was issued for Stephens, who was found in Bogota and he was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of $750,000 bail with no 10 percent option; he is to have no contact with the alleged victims either, Grewal stated.
