Englewood Man Jailed After Car Kills New Yorker Mowing Lawn
Orangetown, NY police allege the 29-year-old was impaired by drugs and lost control.
An Englewood resident faces charges in New York after a Rockland County man mowing his lawn was hit by a car and killed.
Police allege Jared DeVera lost control of his car while driving south on Lester Drive in Orangeburg at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, and hit Giovanni Boiano, 53, who was cutting the grass.
Orangetown police closed Lester Drive between Orangeburg Road and Howard Avenue for hours during their investigation.

Police at the scene concluded that DeVera, 29, was impaired by drugs.
At his arraignment, the New Jersey man was charged with second-degree vehicular manslaughter, a felony, and driving while ability impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor. Bail was set at $100,000 and he was sent to the Rockland County jail, The Journal News reported.
