Four Scouts Awarded Eagle Rank with over 80 Well-wishers in Attendance

On Saturday, June 9, 2018 at First Presbyterian Church of Englewood, Troop 28 Eagle Candidates Drew A. deMontagnac, Tyler A. Holder, David R. Jansen and Ryan A. Pruitt were ceremonially awarded the highest rank in scouting, the rank of Eagle. Tyler A. Holder was also awarded the Bronze Palm for the additional merit badges that he successfully completed.

The Honorable James E. Young Jr., an Eagle Scout who earned the rank in 1963, delivered the keynote address on The Significance of the Eagle Scout. The Troop was honored to have the CEO of the Northern NJ Boy Scout Council, Rebecca Fields, address the assembly and present the National Certificates.

Multiple citations were presented to each Eagle Scout including but not limited to the following:

• citations from the NJ State Legislature presented by Assemblyman Gordon Johnson on behalf of State Senator Loretta Weinberg, Assemblywomen Valerie Vanieri Huttle and himself.

• citations from Sheriff Michael Saudino of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department presented by Officer Shelly Perez.

• citations from the Bergen County Freeholders with congratulatory letters from Chairman Thomas J. Sullivan

Congressman Bill Pascrell could not be in attendance; however, his congressional office is sending citations to each of the Eagle Scouts. Councilman-at-large Charles Cobb was in attendance and invited the Eagle Scouts to attend a council meeting on June 11, 2018 to be recognized by the Council of the City of Englewood.

Richard Carr Sr. received special recognition for his years of service to the scouts of Troop 28 and for serving as a mentor to so many.

Troop 28 conducts and participates in activities and adventures the first three Saturdays of every month. The troop meets at First Presbyterian Church of Englewood NJ in the lower level meeting room. For more information, contact us on Facebook or by email at Troop28@outlook.com.
