Free after school music program in Englewood

The St Paul's Choir School begins its fourth year on September 9

The St Paul’s Choir School will begin its fourth year on Wednesday, September 9. The program offers free music education and performance opportunities for girls and boys, ages 8 through high school. We are a unique after school program that offers professional choral training, voice and piano lessons, music theory, leadership development, and mentoring to children and teenagers. Each chorister receives individualized attention in a dynamic, creative, structures, and hands-on setting from caring teachers who are accomplished professionals in their areas of instruction. Our students come from Englewood and surrounding towns, representing a wide range of cultural communities, and from all traditions.

Highlights of this past year have included a performance at Bergen PAC with the Oscar-winning ensemble ”The Chieftains,” and singing at various venues in New York City, Newark, Asbury Park, and Trenton. Our students participated in the Royal School of Church Music America’s Newport, RI course and the Episcopal Choral Camp at Cape May.

The St Paul’s Choir School program is based on the the idea that all children are able to sing, and we welcome all between the ages of 8 and high school. Children do not need to be members of a church; rather, they must agree to participate regularly in all rehearsals, services and concerts. All students receive free vocal instruction in exchange for a small stipend to encourage their growth as professional musicians.
