LOCAL JDRF CHAPTER ANNOUNCES NEW MEMBERS OF ITS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

JDRF Announces New Northern New Jersey and Rockland County Chapter Board Members

JDRF, the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research , announced today the appointment of six new Northern New Jersey and Rockland County Chapter board members. Chapter boards and their members provide volunteer guidance to the chapter and play a vital role in executing fundraising, leadership and advocacy activities to ensure that its efforts remain aligned with the needs of people who live with the disease.

“We congratulate our new members and are delighted to welcome them to the Northern New Jersey and Rockland County JDRF Chapter,” said Doug Rouse, executive director of the Chapter. “As we look to draw more volunteers and improve the lives of every person affected by T1D, we’re confident our new board members will provide a balanced mix of strengths and talents to expand our engagement of the T1D community and help JDRF toward our common goal of creating a world without T1D.”

The Northern New Jersey and Rockland County JDRF Chapter was formed in 1970 and has established an impressive track record in patient education programs, support groups, public awareness and advocacy.

Type 1 diabetes strikes both children and adults at any age. Each year, more than 15,000 children and 15,000 adults—approximately 80 people per day—are diagnosed with T1D in the U.S. It comes on suddenly, causes dependence on injected or pumped insulin for life, and carries the constant threat of devastating complications. JDRF is the only global organization with a strategic research plan to end T1D, and is committed to an ongoing stream of life-changing therapies moving from development through to the marketplace that lessen the impact of T1D.
