Man Charged With DWI After Crashing Car Into Englewood Home: Police

Junior Jimenez-Mariano, 21, crashed his car into a Liberty Road home early Monday morning, police said.

ENGLEWOOD, N.J. — A man was charged with driving while intoxicated after he crashed his car into a Liberty Road home early Monday morning, police said.

Palisades Parkway Police Officer Travis Philhower clocked a silver Honda Civic traveling at 100 miles an hour in the Alpine section of the road at 3:45 a.m., police said in a press release.

Philhower followed the car onto Palisade Avenue and activated his vehicle's lights at a red light on Route 9w; the driver, Junior E. Jimenez-Mariano, 21, sped away and Philhower followed him through Englewood, police said.

The driver reportedly struck a parked car, crossed a sidewalk on Liberty Road, and hit a home's porch; he was arrested after the crash, authorities said.

Jimenez-Mariano registered a Blood Alcohol Content of .028 three hours after he was arrested, police said. He was charged with eluding, hindering apprehension, obstruction of governmental function, and several motor vehicle violations, including driving while intoxicated, police said.

Jimenez-Mariano's bail was set at $40,000 with no 10 percent option, authorities said.
