Missing French Tourist With Dementia Walks Into Englewood Police Station

Moreira, 77, was last seen on foot Tuesday morning.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — A missing man visiting family in Englewood walked into the police station Tuesday night, hours after police said he went missing.

Jose Moreira was checked out by medical personnel and was reunited with his family, said Detective Capt. Timothy Torell.

Before going to the police department, Moreira, 77, was last seen on foot at 9:30 a.m. in the northwest section of town near the Tenafly-Bergenfield border, police said. Moreira has dementia and is unfamiliar with the area.

Englewood and Tenafly police officers and sheriff's officers used dogs and drones to help locate Moreira.
