Moonwalk Into 5 Englewood Eats This Weekend

From a Michael Jackson brunch to paella and pastries, Englewood has plenty on the table Friday through Sunday.

ENGLEWOOD, NJ — If the weekend question is “Where should we eat?” Englewood has answers ranging from a lively singalong brunch to a quiet Sunday pastry run.

CZEN Restaurant, 36 N. Van Brunt Street, starts Friday with a complimentary rum punch accompanying each entrée from 5 to 8 p.m. A DJ follows from 8 p.m. to midnight. Saturday’s Michael Jackson Birthday Brunch promises favorite songs, food and music from DJ Kyndal Marie. Guests wearing Michael Jackson apparel and holding a reservation receive a complimentary first drink. The restaurant invites diners to “moonwalk into brunch.”

For a more leisurely meal, Sofia, 36 Engle Street, serves a $39 three-course brunch Saturday and Sunday. Choices include the Sofia Benedict, filet bites and eggs, mascarpone pancakes and Tuscan French toast.

Sunday brunch at Blue Akai located at 23 E. Palisade Avenue runs until 4 p.m., with chilaquiles, huevos rancheros and Mexican French toast. Diners purchasing an entrée can add a classic brunch cocktail for $4.

At La Cuchara, 21 E. Palisade Avenue, seafood, Valencian and black-rice paellas share the menu with tapas including patatas bravas and garlic shrimp.

For something easy, Balthazar Bakery, 214 S. Dean Street, offers breads, pastries, cookies and savory baked goods throughout the weekend. Sometimes the best dining plan is simply showing up early enough to claim the croissant.
